About our Union<\/strong><\/h3>\n

FACNC<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>is the\u00a0union\u00a0<\/strong>representing approximately 400 faculty members at CNC.\u00a0 We administer and negotiate the Collective Agreement with the College on behalf of all full and part-time faculty members at CNC.\u00a0 But we do more than that.<\/h4>\n

FACNC<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>is the\u00a0professional organization\u00a0<\/strong>of the college faculty.\u00a0 Our committees, such as Professional Development, Human Rights, Women & Gender Equity, Political Action, Occupational Health and Safety, as well as hiring and other committees offer members a chance to get involved with current issues.<\/h4>\n

FACNC<\/span> supports students\u00a0<\/strong>through 20 annual scholarships totaling $10,000.00.\u00a0 Awards are funded from member dues and payroll deduction. (Contact the FACNC<\/span> office to sign up!)\u00a0 \u00a0Information on these scholarships and other funding is available from Financial Aid.<\/h4>\n

FACNC<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0works with the\u00a0CNC Student<\/strong>s\u2019 Union\u00a0<\/strong>(CFS Local 13) and the\u00a0Operational Staff\u00a0<\/strong>union (CUPE local 4951) to lobby for continued quality publicly-funded post-secondary education.<\/h4>\n

FACNC<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>takes an\u00a0active role in the community<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Faculty Association is a sponsor of the \u201cActive Voice Coalition\u201d which acts to protect community interests.\u00a0 Coalition members come from a range of political backgrounds to lobby for our region.<\/h4>\n

FACNC<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>holds\u00a0Fall, Spring and special general meetings<\/strong>\u00a0to keep members informed about issues that matter.<\/h4>\n

FACNC<\/span> has a role in B.C.\u2019s education community<\/strong>.\u00a0 Through our membership in FPSE<\/span>, we are connected with 11,000 post-secondary faculty and staff in colleges, institutes, universities and university-colleges around the province.\u00a0 Membership in FPSE<\/span> puts us at the table for post-secondary education. The Faculty Association of the College of New Caledonia consists of professional educators in a labour union.\u00a0 We\u2019re Local #3 of:<\/h4>\n

FACNC<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>socials are an important part of our activities.\u00a0 We try to get faculty together with family and friends every semester for at least two fun events. These socials have included product tasting, pizza socials and other fun activities. We are also proud sponsors of the popular CNC Film Festival.<\/h4>\n

FACNC<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0publishes Union Matters to keep members informed about faculty association activities and all aspects of contract administration and bargaining. We\u2019re always looking for new writers and editors so if you are interested please let us know at the faculty office.<\/h4>\n
